في الماضي القريب كان إذا قرر السكرتير العام للحزب الشيوعي للإتحاد السوفيتي زيارة القاهرة كانت الصحف والمجلات ووسائل الإعلام ستظل تتحدث عن تلك الزيارة لأيام وليالي طويلة ، ولكن الآن تمر الزيارة التي قام بها الرئيس الروسي دميتري ميدفيديف للقاهرة مرور الكرام وكأنه رئيس لدولة من جزر الموز وليس رئيساً لمن كانت تعتبر دولة عظمى وأحد قطبي العالم وزعيمة حلف وارسو ، ولكنها الأيام وسبحان المعز المذل. ء
